VERITAS TO BUY ELECTRONICS COMPANY FOR $182 MILLION

The Veritas Capital Fund, an investment fund with holdings that include Integrated Defense Technologies Inc., agreed to buy the Tech-Sym Corporation for $182 million. The closely held Veritas Capital said it would acquire Tech-Sym, a Houston electronics company, through Integrated Defense for $30 a share in cash. The purchase was announced after the close of trading Tuesday. Tech-Sym shares rose $4.1875, to $28.3125 each, in New York Stock Exchange trading yesterday. Tech-Sym's holdings include the Metric Systems Corporation, a maker of airborne training systems and shipboard electronics; Trak Communications Inc., a maker of components for wireless telecommunications; and the Continental Electronics Corporation, a maker of radio transmitters.
