The Oregonian in Portland has dropped the column because of the racial slurs Mr. Breslin aimed at a Korean-American woman, a Newsday reporter, who criticized one of his columns as sexist.

Former Editor Sues The Journal For $12 Million

LEAD: A former editor at The Wall Street Journal filed suit yesterday against Dow Jones & Company, the paper's owner, seeking $12.6 million in damages on the ground that his reputation has been severely injured because the paper wrongfully dismissed him on May 2.

LEAD: The Jamaica Savings Bank announced yesterday that Federal regulators had approved its plan to convert to a stock institution owned by shareholders from a mutual savings bank owned by depositors. As part of the conversion plan, the savings bank will offer 16 million shares of stock at a range of $7.50 to $10.

Bayer-Nova Deal

LEAD: Bayer A.G., the West German chemicals company, agreed to acquire the Polysar Rubber division of the Nova Corporation of Canada for $1.06 billion (United States). The agreement must be approved by government agencies in the two countries. The Polysar unit, based in Toronto, has 3,500 employees worldwide.

LEAD: The Xerox Corporation introduced a line of facsimile machines that use plain paper and double as copiers. John P. Lafferty of the company's information products division said many users prefer receiving facsimiles on plain paper. The machines are all made in Japan by the Fuji Xerox Corporation, although they were developed by Xerox engineers in the United States.

LEAD: The management of the California Jockey Club and the Bay Meadows Operating Company, which trade together on a paired basis, said preliminary results showed they had won a proxy fight against a dissident shareholder group. The company operates the Bay Meadows race track. Final results of the proxy election are to be announced on June 15, but James Conn, president of Bay Meadows, said last week, ''Based on our preliminary review of the tally, we are confident that management has prevailed.
